TOP OFFICIALS of the National Youth Authority (NYA) across the length and breadth of the country have been cautioned against displaying arrogant lifestyles in the discharge of their duties.
Emmanuel Sinnyet Asigri, chief executive officer (CEO) of the NYA who gave the word of caution, assured of his preparedness to operate an open door policy in his administration and so he expects his subordinates to emulate him.
Mr. Asigri was speaking in Kumasi during the official opening of a three-day management and operational staff seminar under the aegis of the NYA.
The programme, which was under the theme, ‘Utilizing National Youth Authority Act, 2016 (Act 939) for Effective Youth Development Work and Service Delivery in Ghana,’ offered the staff the chance to strategize for the future.
The NYA boss stated that working assiduously to address some of the key problems that have currently made Ghanaian youth despondent would be one of the major focuses of his administration, urging all staff to actively support his vision.
“I desire a hybrid leadership climate that appropriately and legitimately promotes youth development at all levels of the authority’s hierarchy,” the NYA head stated, adding that there should be a positive change in the way the authority operates.
According to him, his administration would tolerate team building but would eschew bureaucratic tendencies, while warning that there would be no room for flimsy excuses by non-performing staff.
“The National Youth Authority cannot continue to do things in the old ways; the oft parlance of ‘no resources’ to justify non-performance is anticipated to give way for a vibrant resource-mobilization attitude and prudence in resource use,” Mr Asigri pointed out.
In a speech read on his behalf, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah stated, “Countries that harness and utilize the potential of the youth in the right direction are more developed since their minds act as kinetic energy that propels the growth of the countries.”
