A source close to Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has shot down a vile propaganda that the Number Two Gentleman declined to approve of a helicopter to airlift the remains of the Bolewura who passed away at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital recently.
According to the source, the vice president had done everything needed to have the remains of the chief airlifted to Bole.
“When they got to the airport they were apparently told that only four people could accompany the body to Bole. They refused and said former John Mahama made alternative arrangements for them. What is curious is that how could John Mahama have known at a family meeting that they will have problems today at the airport?”
Continuing, he said that “Kan Dapaah under instruction coordinated the arrangements. In fact, this morning he was sure that the body had left by the helicopter. It was only this evening that we found out that, in fact, did not happen. The aircraft was available and ready to take the body of the Bolewura and four family members but they declined saying they wanted a larger contingent to accompany the body. They rather opted for John Mahamas arrangement.”
The NDC propaganda had it that the deceased, Bolewura Awuladese Pontonpron II, who passed on at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital was being conveyed by road to his hometown because Dr Bawumia had refused to okay his airlift by helicopter.
The propaganda continued that Dr Bawumia claimed that the only helicopter available was needed to take him to Walewale and that the helicopter can take only four people plus the body which the family agreed.
