Baffour Asare Owusu Amankwatia VI leads dignitaries to cut the tape to officially open the factory
An ultramodern concrete products factory has been commissioned at Krapa in the Ejisu-Juaben municipality of the Ashanti Region.
Erduk Concrete Product Factory – a subsidiary of the Erduk Group of Companies – says it’s a one-stop shop for building construction, civil engineering, real estate, haulage, mining services, as well as the sale of concrete products such as kerbs, pavement blocks, culverts, sandcrete blocks, solid and hollow blocks.
Samuel Atta Akyea, Minister of Works and Housing, who represented Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, commended efforts of Ghana’s private sector to complement government’s efforts at bridging the housing deficit, which stands at about 1.7 million.
“We recall that the Erduk Company started operation as a sole proprietorship and has expanded with this huge investment, employing over 160 local artisans. As government, we see this company as a partner and will do our best to ensure it thrives to augment our ‘one district, one factory’ initiative,” the minister averred.
Present at the inauguration were Baffour Asare Owusu Amankwatia VI, Bantamahene, who represented the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II; Simon Osei Mensah, Ashanti Regional Minister; Serwaa Denkyi, Ejisu Juabeng MCE and a high-powered delegation from the Church of Pentecost led by the Chairman, Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah.
Also present were a delegation from GHACEM led by the Commercial Director, Nana Phillip Archer and the Board of Directors of Erduk Group of companies, led by the Chairman, Lawyer Kwame Owusu Sekyere.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Erduk Group of Companies, Eric Duku, said the company was born out of a commitment to fulfill the will of God by serving humanity, as such, it would continue to initiate projects and activities to boost the construction industry.
Mr. Duku acknowledged the support of all stakeholders such as Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and assured that the company would be inspired to do more to create employment opportunities for the youth in the area and beyond.
Lawyer Kwame Owusu Sekyere also recounted that the company started as a retailer of GHACEM cement and assorted iron rod products, then incorporated as a sole proprietorship, trading as Erduk Concrete Products and Building Works from December 2009 until February 2013 when it was elevated to GHACEM distributorship status.
It was given full distributorship status in August of that same year.
The Asantehene’s representative said the achievement of Mr. Duku should inspire other young people to take bold business decisions to create employment opportunities not only for themselves, but others also.
He urged the people of Ashanti Region and beyond to support the company by patronizing its products.
