The suspected armed robbers
Three suspected armed robbers who were captured on a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) camera breaking into an office and warehouse at the North Industrial Area in Accra, have been nabbed.
The Tesano police patrol team arrested the suspects upon receiving information about their activity.
The Lebanese owner of the warehouse, (name withheld), who is into the import of rice, saw the pictures of the suspects on his mobile phone breaking into the warehouse and immediately called the police.
The patrol team got to the scene and managed to arrest the three suspects with the exception of one other who was said to be on guard outside the warehouse.
The suspects are Eric Duse, 32-year-old electrician; Kwabena Mohammed, 25, a driver and Yakubu Mahmoud, 28, a blacksmith.
Items found on them included a metal cutter, a crow bar, six damaged padlocks and GH¢796.
The three have since confessed committing the crime and are in the custody of the police.
Confirming the story to DAILY GUIDE, DSP Edward Tetteh, District Commander of Tesano, said the suspects were arrested at about 12:50 am yesterday.
The complainant, a Lebanese businessman who has connected the CCTV camera in his office and warehouse to his personal mobile phone, called the police for assistance upon seeing the suspects break into the warehouse.
Police responded swiftly and when the patrol team got to the scene, they discovered that the hands and legs of the security man on duty had been tied and blind-folded by the suspects.
They first reportedly broke into the office of the manager and took an amount of $1,850 before proceeding to the warehouse where the goods were kept.
They reportedly attempted to escape but they were all accosted and brought to the station for questioning.
At the station, the suspects confessed that they were actually four but the fourth person who was left outside the warehouse to guard the area, absconded upon seeing the police.
They have been provisionally charged for robbery and will be sent to court today, according to the district commander.
