Uncle Ebo Hits Big With ‘The Comeback’

Actors of the new play in action

Celebrated playwright Uncle Ebo Whyte’s latest play titled ‘The Comeback’ is enjoying a lot of reviews after a successful weekend performances.

The play which first opened on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 has been tagged one of the best productions to have come out of the playwright’s Roverman Productions.

Thousands of theatre fans thronged the National Theatre in Accra to see the play and had a lot to laugh about on stage.

The nine-cast drama centred on Jojo, a renowned footballer from Ghana who has returned home after losing a contract with a foreign club due to an injury.

With a noticeable deficiency in the English language, Jojo takes the audience through his life of betrayal, love, forgiveness and determination.

Patrons didn’t just have enough to laugh out loud about but also a lot of lessons to learn from the exciting play.

From scene to scene, patrons were taken through various emotions, with the atmosphere charged with laughter. Imagine adages like ‘the devil you know and the angel you don’t know both know you’ instead of ‘the devil you know is better than the angel you don’t know’.

Uncle Ebo focuses on a fusion of drama and dance to tell our everyday stories in a largely comedy infused manner. Indications are that the play is coming back to the National Theatre on popular request on September 9 and 10, this weekend.
