Nene Lanuer Okumo being inducted into the council

The Head of Dangmebiawe Clan, Nene Lanuer Okumo IV, has been officially inducted into the Ada Traditional Council in the Greater Accra Region, with a call on the people to unite towards bringing development to the area.

Nene Lanuer Okumo IV, known in private life as Enoch Tetteh Lanuer, a marketing manager, was appointed and installed as head (Wotosyi) for the Dangmebiawe Clan of Ada.

This comes after the Dangmebiawe Stool became vacant after his predecessor, Nene Okumo Lanuer III, passed away in December 2015

The President of the Ada Traditional Council, Nene Abram Kabu Akuaku III, made the call when he welcomed the Dangmebiawe Clan head and his elders to the council.

He advised Nene Lanuer Okumo IV to be loyal to the clan and be accountable to the paramount chief, his elders and subjects. Nene Kabu Akuaku also advised him to report to the council any challenges he might encounter, asking him to unite the various divisions in the clan to pave way for participatory development.

After the swearing-in which was done amid pomp and ceremony, Nene Lanuer Okumo IV pledged his allegiance to the council and thanked them for their advice and guidance.

He also promised to work hard to enable Ada regain its lost status, and pledged that he would make himself available anytime he is called upon.

Nene Lanuer Okumo expressed his gratitude to the council for the confidence reposed in him and called on his subjects to co-exist peacefully and contribute meaningfully to the development of the town.

He said he would use his office to ensure that the people of Ada get nothing but the best. Nene Lanuer Okumo further urged the regent to be fair in all his dealings and rulings as a traditional leader.

The chief and his elders presented assorted drinks, a ram and an undisclosed sum of money to the council as custom demands.

The colourful ceremony brought together various Ada chiefs, linguists, queens, fetish priests and members of the public.
