Work has begun in earnest on an ultramodern palace for the chiefs and people of Wiamoase in the Ashanti Region.
The town, which is located in the Afigya Sekyere East District and can boast of prominent personalities like Osei Kwame Despite, owner of the Despite Group of Companies, Nana Akwasi Nkansah Boadu, businessman, Kwame Kyei of Unity Oil fame, Seth Gyedu, CEO of Setmat Computers and Frema Osei-Opare, the current Chief of Staff, among others, has been without a palace for several years.
Nana Boakye Yiadom II and Nana Oforiwaa Amanfo, the current chief and queenmother of the area respectively, therefore cut the sod for the construction of the palace on Monday, September 4, 2017.
He therefore called on natives of Wiamoase, both home and abroad, to support the construction of the building in kind and cash.
Osei Kwame Despite, who has donated an amount of GH¢10,000 as seed money for the project, has promised to do more in the coming days.
The palace, when completed, would have a gym, basket ball court and two waiting rooms (reception), a stool house and storeroom, conference hall, among others.
The foreman for the project, Kofi Broni said they would mostly rely on communal labour to complete the project along with experts.
The project is expected to be completed in 18 months’ time.
