The vandalised glass door at Sagnarigu Assembly
Kandahar boys, a vigilante group said to be linked to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), have allegedly attacked the Sagnarigu District Chief Executive’s (DCE’s) office over the appointment of a coordinator for the school feeding programme in the Northern Region.
According to reports, the youth were led by one Hajia Mama, who had allegedly been denied the post.
The angry NPP youth reportedly smashed glass doors and vandalized properties such as furniture and documents belonging to the assembly.
The assistant director at the Sagnarigu assembly is said to be on admission at the Tamale Central Hospital for treatment due to the severe beatings he received from the youth.
The Sagnarigu DCE, Mariam Iddrisu, was reportedly not at the office as at the time the youth went there.
The leader of Kandahar Boys, Abdul Hack, told DAILY GUIDE that Hajia Mama had suffered for the NPP and therefore deserved the school feeding coordinator position.
According to him, the youth spoke with the DCE on phone about the position but she claimed she had allocated all the positions and that there was nothing she could do to help them.
The group therefore warned the DCE to either find a way out for Hajia Mama or forget her position as DCE for Sagnarigu because they would make life difficult for her in the district.
