MTN Heroes of Change Launched

MTN Ghana Foundation has launched the fourth edition of its flagship corporate social impact initiative dubbed ‘MTN Heroes of Change (HOC)’ at a brief and impressive ceremony at the MTN House in Accra recently.

According to the Acting CEO of MTN Ghana, Amma Benneh Amponsah, the ‘MTN Heroes of Change’ is a programme which identifies, recognises and supports the contributions of individual Ghanaian citizens and residents who are working to positively impact their communities in areas of health, education and economic empowerment.

While congratulating the winners of the previous seasons of MTN HOC, she indicated that the ultimate MTN HOC winner for season IV will get a prize money of GH¢100, 000 which will be invested in the winning project.

“This year and in subsequent years MTN Ghana Foundation will assist with the project implementation. Category winners will be awarded GH¢30, 000 each also for investments in their projects whilst the rest of the six heroes will also receive GH¢10,000 towards their projects,” she mentioned.

The acting CEO further stated that the season IV edition will also introduce a special category to recognise journalists (TV and radio), musicians, actors and sports personalities who run campaigns that benefit their community.

According to her, each winner in the special category will receive a plaque, certificate and monetary award that will be invested in a corporate social intervention (CSI) project of their choice.

Selection

She stated that entries received will be shortlisted by an esteemed jury to 100 then to forty and finally ten will be selected, filmed and telecast live over a 13-week television show.

“As we launch season IV of MTN Heroes of Change, we encourage all of you to identify people whose community work fall within the areas of health, education and economic empowerment and nominate them as HOC,” she added.

The three-member body of judges comprising of Rev Albert Ocran, an international motivational speaker, Sydney Casely-Hayford, a business and financial analyst, and Dr Doris Yaa Dartey, also a communication consultant, will be retained.
