ARSOG Elects New Executives

The elections committee of the Audio Visual Rights Society of Ghana (ARSOG) has announced that the election of the new ARSOG board members will take place on Friday, October 6 at the Centre for National Cultural (CNC) in Kumasi.

ARSOG is the body responsible for protecting the rights of owners of audiovisual works in Ghana and also distributing royalties to actors and other performers.

The new officers will represent the board members and directors of the society, which is made up of producers, authors and performers. The elected officers will then elect the various executive officers.

The Chairman of the Elections Committee of ARSOG, James Twumasi-Ankrah, gave the assurance that all necessary arrangements have been concluded for a successful election, which will be supervised by the Electoral Commission of Ghana with the support of the Elections Committee.

The 10 contestants are Kaakyire Kwame Appiah, Kofi Owusu Ohemeng, Ashangbor Akwetey-Kanyi, Samuel Kwesi Nyamekye, Richard Prempeh, Augustine Abbey and Evans Kumi Wadewor, who are producers and authors.

Mercy Asiedu Agyeman Duah, TajuYusif and Ahmed Saani are representing performers.

The vetting of the contestants was conducted by a nine-member elections committee which comprises of James Twumasi Ankrah (chairman), Kwame Oppong (vice chairman), Habib Salisu (secretary) Edinam Atatsi (deputy secretary) and Felix Arhin (PRO).

The rest are James Osei Tutu (deputy PRO), Christopher Dadzie (organiser), Michael Afranie (assistant organiser) and Major Frederick Kwasi Gyampo (Rtd), general manager of ARSOG.
