The chief of Ahwiaa-Anyinam in the Kwabre-East District of the Ashanti Region, Nana Amo Ntiedu, has told people in Zongos that the Zongo and Inner-City Development Fund initiated by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is not meant for conflict resolution.
He said without peace, no Zongo in Ghana can develop effectively.
Nana Amo Ntiedu disclosed this while addressing a large number of Muslims drawn from Ahwiaa-Anyinam Zongo during the dedication and swearing-in of a new Sarkin-Zongo of Anyinam at the weekend.
The event was on the theme: Power For Development.
He advised them to avoid acts that would bring the good name of their ancestors, who first settled in the area into disrepute.
He asked them to always strive at all times to be law-abiding and respectful to the tradition and norms of their hosts- the Ashantis- to remain solid and continue to keep the peace which the region is enjoying presently.
Nana Anyinamhene announced that Anyinam-Zongo is one of the peaceful Zongos in the country.
He appealed to Muslims not to fight each other, but use their wealth and experience to fight illiteracy, disease and poverty, which is retarding the progress of the area.
Nana Ntiedu appealed to the Assembly man and the Unit Committee members of Anyinam-Zongo to assist the Sarkin-Zongo and his elders to bring development to the area, but not to lord over them.
On his part, the new Sarkin-Zongo, Chief Alhaji Musah Yakubu Wade, 66, who succeeded the late Alhaji Seidu Corporal, who died three years ago, pledged to serve the people sincerely.
Chief Alhaji Musah Yakubu Wade and his deputy Chief Alhaji Muntaka Muhammed, Waziri of Anyinam-Zongo, assured the chief and elders of Anyinam-Akuona Royal Family that they would honour any invitation day or night, and also assist them in the development of both Anyinam and Anyinam-Zongo.
Sarkin-Zongo Alhaji Musah Wade appealed to the government to provide the area with potable water, roads and Senior High Schools (SHS), to absorb more qualified Junior High School (JHS) graduates to prevent them from travelling outside to attend school.
Nana Amonin Gyamfua, Queen mother of Anyinam, Nana Appiah Kubi, Chief of Ntaamu and Nana Amo Ntiedu Kutu, Ahwiaa – Esaase Benkumhene and elders from Ahwiaa-Anyinam Zongo were among those that graced the occasion.
To climax the occasion, Imam of Anyinam-Zongo, Halifat Masawud Ismail, prayed for the nation, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Asantehene, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Ministers, Members of Parliament (MPs) and Nana Amo Ntiedu Chief of Anyinam.
