The Volta Regional Police Command has arrested two persons for reportedly possessing human parts.
They are 32-year-old Kente weaver, Eklu Havor and Emmanuel Opoku, a 36-year-old Togolese fetish priest.
According to information available to DAILY GUIDE, the fetish priest, who hails from Anehor in Togo, but plies his trade at Dededo in the Ho West District of the Volta Region, exposed Eklu for allegedly attempting to sell parts of a human being to him for blood money.
Opoku is said to have clandestinely gone to the Kponvie barrier – located between Tsito and Asikuma – to report Eklu to the police officers on duty last Tuesday when the incident happened.
The parts that Eklu had brought for the rituals included head and private parts of an old lady.
The police quickly mobilised themselves and followed Opoku to his shrine where Eklu was seen with a polythene bag containing the human parts.
Confirming the incident to the media in Ho, the Volta Regional Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Nana Asomah Hinneh, said the fetish priest, Opoku, on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, reported to the police at Kponvie barrier on the Tsito-Asikuma road, that Eklu had brought him the body parts of an old lady to be used for money rituals.
The police commander said Eklu, upon his arrest, confessed to the police of killing an 80-year-old woman but claimed that it was on the request of the fetish priest, who promised to pay him an amount of GH¢50,000.
DCOP Asomah also revealed that Eklu led the police to exhume the body of the old lady from a shallow grave at Dabodabo, near Anum in the Eastern Region. The shrine of Opoku was also visited to gather clues to assist in investigation.
The fetish priest and the murder suspect have since been placed in police custody to assist in further investigations.
Meanwhile, the mortal remains of the old lady, together with the dismembered parts, have been deposited at the Volta Regional Hospital in Ho.
