Plans are far advanced to send scores of powerful Imams and pastors in the country to the campus of Kumasi Academy Senior High School (KUMACA) in the Asokore Mampong Municipality in the coming days.
The spiritualists would be tasked to pray fervently and perform some rites to help stop the strange deaths that have hit the school since last week within six days.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Asokore Mampong, Alhaji Alidu Seidu, who gave the hint, stated that although authorities have attributed the deaths firstly to scientific causes, there was the need to look at other sources.
He did not rule out the possibility of rampant deaths in the school being caused by some unseen spiritual forces, justifying the need to invite the pastors and Imams to intervene to restore normalcy to the school.
“As we use scientific means to help find antidote to the strange deaths that have hit KUMACA, there is the need for us to look at the spiritual aspects too to see if we can find answers to this calamity and stop the deaths.
“These deaths, whose cause we are struggling to find out, could be spiritually-related. So as we focus on the scientific aspects, we shall also invite the soothsayers to help us,” the MCE for Asokore Mampong, said.
Speaking on Nhyira FM, Alidu Seidu disclosed that the four students did not die as a result of meningitis when autopsy was performed on them.
He expressed concern about the decision of some parents and guardians to forcibly take their children from the school, noting that the action could result in the spread of any potential disease.
The Asokore Mampong MCE therefore appealed to parents and guardians to transport the students immediately back to campus so that they would be protected with anti-bacteria dose.
Alhaji Alidu-Seidu expressed condolence to the families that had lost their children at KUMACA, stressing that the assembly and other stakeholders would do everything possible to stop the deaths.
