President of the governing council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Dr Olumuyiwa Bernard Aliu, has called on member states of the organization to develop strategies aimed at boosting investment in the aviation industry in their respective jurisdictions.

Dr. Aliu has also called for a strong collaboration among member countries to help find avenues for sustainable funding of aviation infrastructure.

He made the call in a report issued by Ghana’s Aviation Ministry on the third ICAO World Aviation Forum held recently in Abuja, Nigeria.

The forum explored the benefits of the aviation sector to the social, economic development and prosperity of member states and discussed the funding required to accelerate the implementation of International Civil Aviation Global Standards and Policies.

Themed: “Financing the Development of Aviation Infrastructure,” the forum also built on the outcomes of the two previous ICAO world aviation forums held in November 2015 and September 2016 in Montreal.

Minister for Aviation, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, led a high-powered delegation from Ghana to the forum and she had the opportunity to moderate one of its key sessions which was on ‘financing for aviation through the programme for infrastructure development in Africa.’

The president requested member states to be committed to the outcomes of previous forums and ensure the implementation of decisions emanating from such forums.
