Cop Grabbed For Trading In Wee At Wa

A police officer, G/Const. 52524, Nana Amoako Donkor of the police band, has been arrested by the Wa divisional police for allegedly trading in dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp (wee).

Police personnel from the Upper East Regional CID, SWAT and RDF, led by Supt. Daniel Nkaboare and DSP Clement Ali, searched the room of the officer and reportedly retrieved some dry leaves suspected to be wee and a pipe.

In a related development, the police in Wa have arrested one Hakim Kasim, 28 years old, for allegedly selling narcotic drugs at Dobile, a suburb of Wa in the Upper East Region.

A search conducted in the room of Hakim Kasim led to the retrieval of some wrapped substances suspected to be narcotic drugs. A police helmet was also retrieved from the room.

When questioned, Hakim Kasim reportedly said the helmet was sold to him by one Nana Amoako Donkor of the police band.

Six other persons – Faisal Haruna, 21 years; Issah Ibrahim, 38; Suleman Seidu, 29; Kasim Mohammed, 17; Mumuni Atim, 30 and Suraj Yussif, 45 – have also been arrested for drug peddling.

Meanwhile, the Wa police have cautioned the general public to be on the lookout for persons who present themselves as politicians and security personnel.

The Wa divisional police commander, Supt. Daniel Nkaboare, said such individuals use previous arrests as their reference points.
