Egypt Hits Town …For Hockey Clubs Tourney

Egyptian hockey side, El Sharkia Club are in town for this year’s African Clubs hockey championship scheduled for January 20 to 28 at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium.

A high powered delegation from the Ghana Hockey Association met the North Africans at the Kotoka International Airport yesterday ahead of the tourney.

Tournament media coordinator, Naa Darkuah Doodo has hinted that the Egyptians are lodging at the M-Plaza Hotel, Roman Ridge in Accra.

On Sunday, Niger Flickers of Nigeria zoomed in as the first team for the eight-day hockey fiesta.

According to Naa Darkuah, the rest of the combatants are expected in the country for push off this Saturday.

Ghana Revenue Authority (Ghana), hockey team

Trustees Hockey Team of SSNIT (Ghana), Eastern Company Club -defending champions (Egypt) make up teams for the male category.

The rest are El Sharkia Club (Egypt), Niger Flickers Hockey Club (Nigeria) and Police Machine Hockey Club (Nigeria).

In the ladies category, GRA, Revenue Authority (Ghana), Police Hockey Club (Ghana ), Telkom Hockey Club – defending champions (Kenya), Strathmore Hockey Club (Kenya)  KADA Queens Hockey Club (Nigeria) and Yobe Desert Queens Hockey Club (Nigeria) will do battle for honours.
