Royal Bank Assists Pantang Hospital

Management of the Royal Bank has presented assorted food items, detergents and toiletries worth GH¢10,000 to the Pantang Hospital in Accra.

The bank also presented a cheque for GH¢10,000 to management of the hospital for their internal operations.

John Ackom, Deputy Managing Director of Royal Bank, who made the donation, said it formed part of the bank’s 5th anniversary celebration.

He said management of the bank decided to support the hospital because it was an ideal partner that needed help to boost its work to meet the mental health needs of society.

He said the sense of compassion from the bank was sown by its founder, Alhaji Adamu Iddrisu, who established it in 2014 to support people and deprived communities.

Mr Ackom said the Foundation had provided boreholes to deprived communities across the country.

He expressed the hope that the government would provide the needed resources to make Pantang the Pan-African mental hospital of choice in the sub-region.

Dr Frank Baning, acting Hospital Director, commended the management for the kind gesture.

He said mental health is a key sector but unfortunately much attention has not been given to it due to the lack of understanding of policy makers.

“It is lack of understanding that has made them not to support the sector over the years,” he added.

Dr Baning said one out of four persons in their lifetime suffer mental health conditions, indicating that a lot of people in communities need support when it comes to mental health.

He said the hospital would partner the bank to create awareness on how to identify some of the common mental health challenges and the little things that could be done to prevent them.
