‘Recognize HR Practitioners Economic Roles’

Government has been challenged to recognize the role of Strategic Human Resources (HR) in the country’s economic transformation.

A senior HR Consultant at Alica Consulting Limited, Andy Okrah, made the call while delivering a brief speech on Tuesday in Accra at a breakfast meeting held for HR practitioners from various industries.

The meeting, organized by Alica Consulting Limited, was under the theme: ‘The Role of Strategic HR in Ghana’s Economic Transformation.’

It is important that the leaders recognize the important role of HR in any nation, Mr. Okrah noted.

He explained that there was the need for HR professionals to be seen as “real change transformation agents” as the country embarks on its industrialization programme under the ‘One District, One Factory’ programme.

“When HR plays the role of change transformation agents, they help the organization and its members make real, behavior changes that affect organizational performance,” said Mr. Okrah.

The rigor and capability of HR functions, he said, had steadily grown with the development of human capital processes, enhanced business partnering and maturing systems capabilities.

Mr Okrah seized the opportunity encourage HR professionals to embrace “powerful roles that can help them become agents of sustainable change transformation.’

Alica Consulting Limited is accordingly an HR consulting firm established to support capacity building and human capital development in the nation, especially in the public sector.
