Prof. Kwawukume congratulates the WASSCE Best students
Family Health Hospital, a top-notch private health facility, has collaborated with the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to offer a three-year free medical care for the best five students in the 2017 West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The management of the hospital also donated GH¢20, 000 each to the parent institutions of each of the students to procure science equipment for their laboratories.
The five students are Jochebed Adwoa Sutherland and Audrey Emefa Awuttey, both of Holy Child School, Cape Coast; Rachel Amaning Kwarteng and Hazel Asantewaa Kissi-Dankwa, both also of Aburi Girls’ Senior High School, and Chris Delanyo Yao Ackotia, Achimota School (Accra).
Dr Susu Bridget Kwawukume, co-founder of the Family Health Hospital, told journalists last Friday that “this gesture is our corporate social responsibility to appreciate these students who have made Ghana proud; in the same vein we believe it will serve as a platform to motivate other students and teachers to work very hard at their studies.”
Dr Mrs Kwawukume, who is also the chief medical director of the hospital, urged parents to continue to encourage their children in order to prove themselves as disciplined students.
Prof Enyonam Yao Kwawukume, president of the Family Health Medical School (FHMS), paid glowing tribute to the teachers and students alike for their respective roles in helping the students emerge with what he described as “outstanding performance”.
The president stated that FHMS, which is affiliated to the University of Ghana and accredited by the National Accreditation Board (NAB), has a strong faculty comprising local and international lectures, besides its collaboration with medical schools in America, Europe and Asia.
“This is what makes us outstanding among our colleagues and as we push on, our focus is to be a centre of medical excellence in the sub region,” he indicated.
According to him, FHMS, a member of the Family Health Group which has evolved from a history of humble beginnings, is happy to be a leading medical institution with state-of-the-art laboratory set-up covering physiology/biochemistry, pharmacology/chemical pathology, among others.
