Nana In Rwanda For AU Summit On Free Trade

President Akufo-Addo left the country yesterday for the Rwandan capital, Kigali.

He is attending the Extraordinary Summit of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU), which comes off today.

He was accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway; the Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen and officials of the Presidency and the foreign affairs ministry.

The Summit will witness the signing of an agreement that will launch the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) intended to make the continent “the largest free trade area created since the formation of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).”

President Akufo-Addo is expected back home later today.
