The Police in the Brong Ahafo Region have arrested a 30-year-old man, Komla Azuma, for allegedly killing his wife and setting her body on fire.
The incident occurred at Oda, a cottage near Sankore in the Asunafo South District of the region.
Komla is currently being interrogated at the regional police command for allegedly killing Gladys Kumah, who was said to be eight months pregnant.
The Brong Ahafo Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Iinspector Kinsley Oppong, who confirmed this to DAILY GUIDE, said a source gave information to the police in Sankore on March 25, 2018 about the activities of the suspect.
The source said he saw somebody pouring petrol on Gladys Kuma’s house at Oda.
The PRO said the police quickly rushed to the scene, put out the fire and discovered the charred body of the deceased.
The police said preliminary investigations revealed that Komla Azuma killed Gladys.
The police said they saw two children of the deceased aged between four and six at the scene.
The PRO said the children told the police that their father beat their mother mercilessly, killed her and set fire to the body.
He revealed that the children hid in the bush.
“After the heinous crime, Komla went into hiding, but the police sent information to help locate the suspect. On 4th April, through the public, we had information on his whereabouts and moved in to arrest him.”
The police commended the public for assisting in the arrest of the suspect.
