Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South in Kumasi, Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh aka Napo, has led a clean-up campaign exercise in his constituency to help rid the place of filth.

The exercise, which took place on May Day, was mainly centered at the Manhyia Palace, the official seat of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who has reigned as the Asante King for 19 years now.

Significantly, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will also be marking his 68th birthday on Sunday, May 6, 2018. The King’s birthday will attract top dignitaries from across the globe to the Manhyia Palace.

Napo, who is also the Minister of Education, therefore, decided to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in the constituency to clean the area, as it prepares to welcome eminent visitors.

The NPP members, including the youth and the aged, started the clean-up exercise at the St Anne’s Anglican Church area at Ash Town and then moved through Ash Town and ended at the Manhyia Palace.

During the exercise, Napo was seen clearing choked gutters, sweeping the streets and clearing bushy areas.

According to the Manhyia South lawmaker, the clean-up exercise will not be a nine days’ wonder, stressing that he will lead a similar exercise in the area very soon.
