Western Music Awards Slated For May 12

The second edition of the annual Western Music Awards (WMA) will take place on Saturday, May 12 at the Best Western Plus Atlantic Hotel in Takoradi in the Western Region, organisers have announced.

Organised by Westline Entertainment with sponsorship from Rigworld Training Centre, the awards ceremony is expected to attract a large number of stakeholders in the creative arts industry in Ghana.

WMA is being organised to reward deserving artistes in the region for their hard work, dedication and contribution to Ghana’s music industry.

With only a few days to the event, the organisers have hinted that the event will bring together the best of artistes from the region to celebrate the event with music fans.

The awards ceremony will witness performances from artistes like Kofi Kinaata, Ayesem, Nero X, Paulina Oduro, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, S.K. Frimpong, Corp Sayvee, Tru7h, an artiste from America, and a host of others who hails from the region.

According to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of (WMA), Nana Kwesi Coomson, 72 artistes were nominated this year in the 22 categories.

He revealed that there will be lifetime achievement awards for three music legends from the Western Region, namely Safohene Djani, Rev Dr Wosonewona Yeboah and Gyedu Blay-Ambolley.

This year’s event is dubbed ‘For The Love of The Region’, and it is being supported by the Western regional branch of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and a host of others.

Tickets for the awards ceremony are going for GH¢30 regular, GH¢50 standard and GH¢100 VIP.
