Minister Breaks Ground… For Ashanti Sports Complex

Ashanti Region is the latest to benefit from the nationwide Youth Resource Sports Centres designed to equip the youth realize their full potentials.

The facility, expected to be completed nine months from now, is being sited at Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua Constituency,   Ashanti Region.

And like all the multipurpose sports complexes, it houses a five thousand capacity FIFA standard football pitch, multipurpose sports courts, comprising tennis, basketball and volleyball,  eight-lane athletics track, ICT centre, washroom, a modern restaurant and a gymnasium.

The Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua said “We are using sports as a tool for job creation for the youth of this country, hence Nana Addo’s vision of providing these platforms ( Multipurpose Sports Complex) across the nation.

“Most definitely, it will serve Ashanti region, unearth talents aimed at bringing honours to Ghana. It is high time we invest in sports infrastructure, when that is achieved, the youth will have no excuse not to excel. It is my fervent hope and wish of the Ministry that we will have 20 of these facilities across the nation in the next few years.”

National Youth Authority (NYA) CEO, Emmanuel Asigiri, urged the youth to utilize the facility to realize their full potentials.

Regional chairman, NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly referred to as Chairman Wontumi said the facility, besides benefiting its residents, will help the youth of both Brong Ahafo and Western Regions.

Nyinahin chief, Amanpene Boateng Tsum, commended government and the Sports Minister for the facility, which is being handled by George Mensah ( contractor)  and urged the youth to make good use of it.
