Moses Osei aka Kofi
A 28-year-old mason arrested two years ago for defiling an 11-year-old girl at Adjeiman, near Amasaman, has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment by the Amasaman District Magistrate Court.
The convict Moses Osei, aka Kofi, who is a friend to the family of the victim, according to the prosecution, used some dried leaves to clean victim’s vagina after defiling her.
He ordered her to put the leaves into her father’s water for bathing.
This, according to him, would enable the victim’s parents, who are divorced to reconcile.
The magistrate, Patricia Quansah, found Moses guilty and sentenced him to 15 years’ imprisonment in hard labour.
The prosecutor, Chief Inspector Mary Agyapong, said on December 23, 2016, one Eunice Owusu of Adjeiman, lodged a complaint and presented a box laden with dried leaves to the police.
In November 2016, Kofi took the victim to his room at Adjeiman and had sexual intercourse with her.
The police issued medical form to complainant to send the victim to the hospital for examination and treatment.
The court remanded Kofi into custody on May 19, 2017.
She told the court that the complainant in the case is the mother of the victim who lives at Konongo in the Ashanti Region, while the victim lives with her grandmother at Adjeiman.
The convict Moses Osei also lives at Adjeiman.
In November 2016, Moses went to the victim’s house and asked her to follow him to his house for money to braid her hair.
On arrival at the accused person’s house, Moses asked the girl to enter his room after which he locked the door.
He told her that he could perform some rituals that could bring her parents together.
He broke incense into pieces and put them into a cup and smeared some substance all over her body.
Afterwards, Moses asked her to lie on his mattress and open her legs.
He told the victim that he would lie on her for seven consecutive times and that each time the victim should mention the parent’s name.
After lying on her for the seventh time, Moses inserted his penis into the victim’s vagina.
Chief Inspector Adjapong revealed that the victim shouted, but Moses used some leaves to cover her mouth after which he used the same leaves to wipe the discharge from her vagina.
He gave the leaves to the victim and asked her to drop some into her father’s bathing water and use the rest to wash her face seven times.
The victim kept the leaves and showed them to her grandmother.
The prosecutor said the police took the said leaves and forwarded them to the crime laboratory for serology examination which proved positive for Moses’ semen.
