Liverpool’s run to the Champions League final seems to have caught the eye of Real Madrid fans as they have chosen Jurgen Klopp as the man they want in the dugout.
Zinedine Zidane unexpectedly resigned as Madrid manager on Thursday just days after winning a third consecutive Champions League title for the club.
The Spanish giants are on the lookout for a new manager ahead of next season and Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is among the front-runners for the mammoth job.
But on Friday, Spanish publication AS ran a poll on their website for Madrid fans to have their say on who they want to replace club legend Zidane, with four names put forward.
And they duly delivered their verdict, with Klopp getting the nod ahead of his Premier League counterpart Pochettino.
Over 120,000 votes were cast in the poll, with the Liverpool boss receiving 41 per cent of the votes, while Pochettino got 34 per cent.
Below the Argentine, in the pecking order, was Germany manager Joachim Low, with 15 per cent and former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger getting 9 per cent.
The survey came after Pochettino admitted on Friday that he would have to listen if Madrid wanted him to replace Zidane.
‘When Madrid call you, you have to listen,’ Pochettino said at his book launch. ‘Although in this case it doesn’t depend on me. I have just signed a long contract at Tottenham and I’m very happy there.
‘When you want a player you have to talk to the club that player belongs to and it would be exactly the same,’ Pochettino added.
