Wontumi Endorses Blay

Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Wontumi and Mr Freddie Blay

THE ASHANTI Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Wontumi, has insisted that Mr Freddie Blay should be retained unopposed as the party’s National Chairman.

He has therefore appealed to Mr Stephen Ntim, who is also gunning for the NPP chairmanship position in his fourth attempt, to step down for Mr. Blay.

Wontumi stated that the main architects of the NPP tradition namely JB Danquah, Dombo and Busia, who are all deceased, are spiritually backing Mr. Blay to lead the NPP to victory in 2020.

According to him, these three aforementioned personalities recently appeared in his (Wontumi’s) dream and they told him to tell those contesting Mr. Blay to step down since he (Blay) is the chosen one.

He disclosed that Danquah, Dombo and Busia sternly warned that it would be dangerous for the NPP to “change a winning team ahead of the 2020 polls”, for which reason they said “Chairman Blay should be maintained”.

Wontumi therefore commended Alhaji Short, who was in the chairmanship race but has opted out recently, for taking a prudent decision. He urged Mr. Ntim to also follow Alhaji Short’s example by stepping down.

Special Dream

“I had a dream recently. In the dream, I saw the architects of our party’s tradition – Dombo, JB Danquah and Busia – who specifically told me that Freddie Blay is the right person to lead the NPP to victory in 2020.

“These three great personalities in our party’s history, also told me to tell the other aspirants who are contesting for the NPP chairmanship position to step down so that Mr. Blay can retain his position unopposed,” Wontumi narrated.

“I made my dream public few days ago and shortly after that I learnt that Alhaji Short had stepped down from the race and I salute him for having the interest and the future of the NPP at heart.

“I will take this opportunity to also appeal to Mr. Ntim to listen to the cry of JB Danquah, Dombo and Busia and also step down for Mr. Blay to lead us to victory once again”, Wontumi said in a chat with Kwame Adinkra of Abusua FM.

He narrated that the three NPP heroes stated in the dream that Mr. Blay has all it takes to guard, protect and properly lead the NPP to a massive political victory in 2020, adding that his dream should not be joked with.

Wontumi noted that all that the NPP needed as a political is to retain power in 2020 so that the party can continue to lead the country into prosperity, stressing that without power political parties are useless.

“Let me tell you, our serial callers like Kwabena Nyame, Abilele and Thick 5 are important than Asiedu Nketiah, who is the NDC General Secretary, because we have political power”, Wontumi argued on radio in Kumasi.

Blay’s Achievement’s

On a personal note, Wontumi said he was backing Freddie Blay to be retained as the NPP national chairman, recounting the sacrifices that Mr. Blay did as acting national chairman of the NPP before the party could win the 2016 polls.

“Blay is the perfect leader for the NPP; he took over as acting national chairman of our party at a time when the party had been bedevilled with constant infighting, backbiting, disunity and total confusion.

“But he was able to calm the ‘raging waters’ and also united the regional chairman and all other executives to help us defeat the NDC to win the 2016 polls and that was a great achievement”, he recounted.

Wontumi also said Mr. Blay is a strong and fearless leader who the NPP needs saying, “Blay was beaten by some goons during the Talensi by-election, yet he did not give up because he is a bold leader”.

Again, he commended Mr. Blay for using his powerful newspaper, the DAILY GUIDE, to defend the NPP during the eight years that the party was in opposition saying, “This is the right leader for our party as we prepare for the 2020 polls”.
