Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has tasked the Internal Audit Agency Board to discharge its duties without fear or favour.
Speaking at the inauguration of the board of the Internal Audit Agency at the Jubilee House in Accra yesterday, he observed that “as a country driving towards a vision of building a Ghana Beyond Aid, we must use our resources very judiciously and so we have to rely on your office, your board a lot in the whole audit processes in this country.”
Dr Bawumia was optimistic they would live up to expectation considering their expertise and experience.
“We are really looking forward to a very vigorous undertaking of your responsibility,”he stated.
He wished them well in their assignment, saying “know that Ghana is expecting a lot from you.”
On his part, chairman of the Board, Joseph Winful, expressed reservations about the attitude of some Ghanaians in the discharge of their duties.
He did not blame the systems and procedures, saying “it’s the people.”
He assured Dr Bawumia that he and members of the Internal Audit Agency Board would not disregard discrepancies once they have been given the freedom and authority to carry out their mandate.
“We are going to ensure that we do what Ghanaians have entrusted to us to do, we will do our best.”
Members of the board are Ransford Agyei, Samuel Danquah-Arhurst, Frank Raji and Janet Fofie.
The rest are Professor Kwame Adom-Frimpong, Agatha Gaisie-Nketsiah, Christian Tetteh Sottie and Fiifi Kwakye.
