THE ACTING National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Freddie Wormasao Blay on Thursday, took the stronghold of his main contender for the upcoming elections by storm with a spontaneous declaration press conference that had a record attendance by Constituency Chairmen and the Regional Executives in the Brong-Ahafo Region.
Mr Blay who appeared to have stunned executives of the ruling party in the region with his political antics, seems to enjoy a one man show in the region ahead of the national delegates’ conference despite his main contender, Mr Stephen Ntim, hailing from the region.
The Regional Executives and the Constituency Chairmen said the divisions and internal squabbles within the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition which could have spelled doom for the party prior to the 2016 elections were successfully handled by Freddie Blay.
Speaking yesterday on behalf of the Constituency Chairmen and the Regional Executives at a declaration press conference in Sunyani, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Secretary of the NPP, Mr Kofi Ofosu Boateng said, the presence of Mr Freddie Blay in the NPP political terrain manifested when the outcome of the last general election favored the party with a huge victory.
According to him, the 2020 elections will not be a child’s play therefore it would require a stronger personality capable of rewriting the narrative to maintain power in the 2020 general election.
Mr Boateng said, having listened to both candidates vying for the national chairmanship slot’s campaign messages, they have realized, Mr. Blay stands tall in terms of party unification, competency, resourcefulness, among others, therefore their massive endorsement has been given to him ahead of the elections.
