The First Deputy Majority Chief Whip and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Kpandai, Mathew Nyindam, has urged delegates of the national conference of the NPP in Koforidua at the weekend to vote for national executive members who will maintain the unity of the party.
He said the unity of the party is very critical for the party to also maintain power in 2020 and beyond.
The First Deputy Majority Chief Whip, who was speaking to DAILY GUIDE in Parliament yesterday concerning the upcoming national conference of the party, asked delegates not to make the mistake of choosing executive members who might not have a good working relationship with President Akufo-Addo because the government will have to always implement the manifesto policies of the party in government.
According to the Kpandai MP, the party must return from the Koforidua conference more united and not divided because the party and the presidency will have to work hand in hand to be able to successfully implement all major policies of the party and also win the 2020 general elections hands down.
He said: “We need peace and unity in the party as we are currently experiencing and therefore it will be apt not to rock the boat again.”
He noted that the current national executive members have done a yeoman’s job to bring the party into power and deserve to be rewarded with another term of office for positive continuity of growing the party beyond petty politics and power struggle.
He continued: “I will want to remind all party faithful of the fight ahead in 2020 and that delegates should not do any trial and error; instead, they should put their trust in people who have been tried and tested in running the affairs of the party successfully.”
