Kusi Boafo addressing the media at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Information
President Akufo-Addo is billed to launch the National Public Sector Reform Strategy (NPSRS) on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at the Accra International Conference Center.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Public Sector Reforms, Kusi Boafo, made this known to media on Thursday in Accra.
The NPSRS is aimed at improving public service delivery to private sector players and citizens over a period of five years, beginning from 2018 to 2023.
According to Mr. Boafo, through the strategy, the Government of Ghana aims to establish an open and impartial public sector at the central and local government levels, with citizens and the private sector at the core.
He stated that the draft NPSRS had been approved by Cabinet.
The previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration developed NPSRS document, which was to be implemented from 2017 to 2027.
The document, according to Mr. Boafo, was approved by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration in principle.
However, he stated that the current government decided to review the document in line with its private sector-led development agenda and re-submit for the adoption by Cabinet.
Mr. Boafo explained “in that regard, a committee chaired by the Senior Minister and made up of other ministers, representatives from the private sector, academia, etc. was constituted to review the document.”
He added that “Also, a technical committee was put in place to produce a revised version for the consideration of the Review Committee.”
The CEO expressed the hope that the strategy would bring about attitudinal change among Ghanaians in the public sector towards to improve service delivery.
