Daniel Akuffo
THE CHIEF Executive of Shai-Osudoku District Assembly in the Greater Accra Region, Daniel Akuffo, has expressed serious concern over the way investors are being driven away from the Osudoku Traditional Area as regards land litigation.
According to him, investors are scared of investing capital in projects for the fear of losing the land to another buyer.
“When an investor realises that the land he intends to buy has been sold to two or three people, he will definitely turn away”, he noted.
Nonetheless, the DCE indicated “the alarming rate of land litigation at Osudoku has retarded its progress as a district from other districts”.
Mr. Daniel Akuffo was speaking during the maiden Osudoku State Youth Conference held in the area. He, however, called on the Osudoku State Traditional Council, opinion leaders, relevant stakeholders and the youth to tackle and resolve the issue of land litigation as a matter of urgency in order to see the elevation of the district.
He called for calm among the various family land owners and also urged them to settle land disputes amicably – a situation which has been hampering the progress of Osudoku State.
“When the issue of land litigation is permanently resolved, investors will get the cleanest assurance that their capital investment will not be a waste”, he asserted.
According to the DCE, the most honourable gift from President Akufo-Addo to the people of this country is education. In view of that, he charged the youth in the district to take education seriously in order to enjoy the free SHS policy initiated by the president.
He therefore called on parents to contribute their quota in ensuring that their wards get the best of education with regard to the free SHS policy.
For their part, the youth of Osudoku State passionately appealed to the traditional authorities to ‘smoke a peace pipe ‘ by bringing to a halt all land related litigation issues.
They added that the district has tasted the ‘bitterness ‘ of non-development for far too long hence the wake-up call to eradicate land litigation issues which have bedevilled the district.
However, the youth called on government and investors to bring development to the area through infrastructural projects such as factories, schools, hospitals, roads, among others.
