Officials of Heritage Bank with Education Minister Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh

Heritage Bank, a wholly-owned Ghanaian bank, has donated thousands of Mathematics Revision Books to SHS students through the Ministry of Education.

This was done in collaboration with other agencies working closely with renowned professors and teachers in the area of mathematics and science education.

Interacting with the media after the launch of the books at the Ministry of Education, the Head of Marketing, Branding and Communication of Heritage Bank, Ebenezer Akyeampong said, “At Heritage Bank, we believe in the dream of Ghanaians. We believe that it’s possible for a Ghanaian child from a deprived community to attain higher education and achieve his/her dream of launching a rocket to the moon. Therefore, when this idea came to us, we thought we have to do everything possible to support it and push the government’s flagship Free SHS programme.”

“We believe this initiative will improve the learning of mathematics and science to churn out leaders who can drive innovation and be at the forefront of development in this country. It’s our vision that in a few years, every SHS pupil will have a copy of this book. It’s possible.”

In his speech, Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, congratulated Heritage Bank and other agencies who offered support to bring this idea into fruition.

He further challenged them to do more by way of printing more copies of the books to be distributed to every SHS student since all the organizations need workforce who are well vested in Mathematics and Science.

He reiterated that government is also very committed to supporting girls in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and this single action by Heritage Bank and other agencies will go a long way to support that agenda.
