KANEKO Pencil Company Limited, a pencil producing company in Japan, in collaboration with PMKF (a company in Ghana), has donated about 200,000 pencils to various metropolitans, municipalities and district education directorates in Ghana.
The donation was done to augment and help basic schools with materials that can make the students learn with ease.
The team of donors was led by the Executive Secretary of the Ghana Small Scale Oil Palm Producers Association (GSSOPPA) and the recent award winner of the Forty Under Forty awards for Agriculture Business, Paul Amaning, as part of their support to the educational system in the country.
Presenting the pencils to the Kwaebirim Municipal Education Directorate, Mr. Paul Amaning said his partners in Japan are keenly interested in the improvement of the Ghanaian educational standards and are willingly ready to give support to school-going children in the country.
According to him, he feels happy to support his root because he had his primary and secondary education in the same district. He took the opportunity to encourage the students to learn hard so that they can became good leaders of their respective communities to also support the younger generation.
The District Education Director, Mr. Samuel Ntow, who received the donations on behalf of the Kwaebirim Education Directorate, expressed his appreciation to Mr. Paul Amaning and his partners, urging them to continue with their good work.
He continued to plead with government, NGOs and individuals who wish to come to their aid with other academic enhancement equipment like computers, readers, among others, to help accelerate the growth of the educational standards in the districts.
He also advised the students to make important use of the support they are receiving from government, NGOs and individuals.
So far, the pencils have been donated to other municipalities in the region.
