SPORTS COMMENTATOR and broadcaster Fiifi Banson has donated a total of 100 bags of Diamond Cement to the John Agyekum Kufuor (JAK) Centre for Leadership and Governance at the University of Ghana.
The donation, which is the widow’s mite of Mr. Banson and the African Centre for Sports Study, is to support the construction of the phase one of the $5 million building project which when completed will house the various programmes of the JAK Foundation.
In a brief remark to present the cement at the construction site on Friday in Accra, Mr. Banson, a former radio host at Radio Gold, said one of the best things that Ghanaians, who have been inspired by the leadership of former President Kufuor, can do is to contribute immensely to his dreams and visions.
He said the donation was in appreciation of Mr. Kufuor’s visionary leadership which he displayed during his eight-year rule (from 2001 to 2009) as President of Ghana.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the JAK Foundation, Prof. Baffour Agyeman-Duah, who received the donation on behalf of the Centre, thanked the sports commentator and urged other benevolent Ghanaians to support the project in kind and in cash.
Prof. Agyeman-Duah said: “Mr. Kufuor is hoping that this small presentation will inspire others to want to do same.”
He said when completed, the Centre would be used for mentoring and nurturing young people from across Ghana and beyond to aspire to become effective leaders.
