The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has held religious induction ceremony for the newly promoted senior officers.
The inductees were Rear Admiral Seth Amoama, Chief of the Naval Staff; Air Vice Marshal Frank Hanson, Chief of Air Staff and Major General Thomas Oppong-Peprah as Chief of Staff.
The ceremony took place on Sunday at Burma Camp Garrison Methodist Presbyterian Church in Accra.
Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Lt Gen. Obed Boamah Akwa, who was the guest of honour, said that the religious induction parade was organized to formally build ‘cohesion’ in the military.
He congratulated the inductees on their appointment and was optimistic they would excel in their positions.
Rt. Rev. Col John K. Otoo, who presided over the induction service themed, ‘In Him We Trust, said, “Do not be overtaken by the power, honour, authorities and influence, but you must adhere to your mission and vision in discharging your duties and train new officers.”
He said, “Do not become enemies to others by firing them because there would be a time your names would not be mentioned; be servant leaders and not boxing and always focus on delivering your designated duties equally.”
Speaking on behalf of inductees, the new Rear Admiral Amoama, commended the Commander-in-Chief for ‘recognizing’ their efforts and praised their predecessors for improving the military.
They promised to serve with diligence and continue to promote professionalism in the military.
