A Ghanaian Chief Inspector, whose name was given as Theophilus Dotse of the Mobile Police Force in Accra, died suddenly last Thursday in Togolese jurisdiction when he reportedly went to buy a car engine in the company of his mechanic.
Information received by DAILY GUIDE indicated that the Aflao District Police Command received from their Togolese counterpart about the death of the police officer whom they said had gone to Togo to buy the engine when he passed on after suffering from severe heart pains.
The Aflao District Commander Supt Obrako Bempah detailed three cops to proceed to Dzodzorli in Togo where they met the Deputy Commander Commissioner Ali Adam Rafiou and Samuel Anyidoho – the auto mechanic with whom the cop went to buy the engine.
The deceased and the mechanic travelled on a Toyota Corolla saloon car with registration number GE 6100 – 15 and when they engaged the owner of the engine, the deceased complained of severe heart pains and was rushed to the Centre Meico Ong Femme Environment Saante – a hospital in Togo – for treatment but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The Aflao cops detailed to go and find out what was happening proceeded to the hospital where they saw the lifeless body of the deceased in the front seat of the car, and the corpse photographed as a routine procedure.
A Gota handset, Nasco cell phone, police ID card, National Health Insurance ID card, voter’s ID card – all bearing the deceased’s name – and a wallet containing GH¢350 and 7,500 CFA were handed over to the Aflao District Commander.
The body was subsequently brought to Aflao and deposited at Ketu South Municipal Hospital for further investigation.
The Toyota Corolla car was also brought and parked at the Aflao Police Station.
