Foreign Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has disclosed that the coronavirus (COVID-19) declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) recently has killed three Ghanaians.
She said at the precincts of Parliament House in Accra yesterday that two of the deaths occurred in Italy where the COVID-19 is still rampant and another one in Denmark where it is minimal.
In a snap interview with journalists, the Foreign Minister said since the WHO had declared Europe as the new epicentre of the coronavirus pandemic and taking into cognizance the travel advisory and response actions for COVID-19 being undertaken in Ghana and host nations, all Ghanaians abroad, particularly in Europe, should strictly adhere to the directives in order to stay safe.
Pastor Nabbed
As the government continues to enforce its directive for public gathering against the COVID-19, a pastor in the Ashanti Region was arrested yesterday by the police for defying the ban suspending church service.
He was later identified as Apostle Kofi Nkansah-Sarkodie, Head of Open Arms Ministry in Kumasi, who was holding a church service in defiance of the President’s directive.
The police were called in yesterday by residents and as the church service was ongoing they stormed the place to pick up the pastor.
However, they had a torrid time putting the pastor into a waiting police vehicle as the congregants tried to resist the law enforcers from the arrest of their pastor.
