THE MEMBER of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwa, is upbeat about winning again the parliamentary slot of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as he prepares for the party’s primaries scheduled for June 20, 2020.
The optimism of the two-term MP stems from the effective manner he has been able to endear himself to the delegates, who have been showering plaudits on him “for facilitating the foreign travels of some of the constituents, completing an abandoned police station project at Buokrom Estate, and procuring two police patrol motorbikes to aid security operations within the constituency.”
According to him, he is also credited for having organized the highest ever inter-community soccer competitions in the constituency, which the youth love most.
This has been done in addition to the donation of sets of jerseys and footballs to all the communities in the constituency, including the periodic provision of street bulbs to the communities to improve security.
“Granting of scholarship to 735 people, supply of laptops and computers to selected schools, re-roofing the Buokrom M/A Primary “A” and “B” School blocks, construction of an ultra-modern ICT centre at WESCO Demonstration School, as well as the donation of 1,000 mono and dual desks to selected schools in the constituency are all part of my modest achievements,” he said.
“The rest are the sponsorship of BECE mock examinations for public and private schools, provision and supply of 1,000 literature books and exercise books, as well as note books and pens,” the MP noted.
“I would say I stand the greater chance of winning the primaries and I look forward to the opportunity of making my case to the delegates once again and convincing them I am the most appropriate person to represent them,” he added.
