A product of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Akpene Darko-Cobbina, has dethroned Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa-Safo, as Ghana’s youngest Lawyer.
He was called to the Ghana Bar in October 2019 at age 22 years and 198 days, beating Adwoa Safo’s record of 22 years 280 days.
Madam Adwoa-Safo held the youngest lawyer record for more than a decade, having graduated from the Ghana School of Law, Makola, in 2004 and subsequently called to the Bar.
Adwoa-Safo, a home-tutored student, entered the University of Ghana, Faculty of Law, Legon at age 17, after her GCE A’Level in 1998.
She represented the school at various Moot Court Competitions: All Africa (Kenya, 2001), Commonwealth (Australia, 2003) and Jessup (U.S.A., 2004).
About Akpene Darko-Cobbina
After completing his secondary education at Mfantsipim in the Central Region, Akpene Darko-Cobbina, son of Charles Cobbina, a steward of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), began his legal education at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration in 2013.
He graduated from GIMPA in 2017, and briefly did an internship at Daily Guide, covering events and reporting for the newspaper.
In 2017, while doing his internship at Daily Guide,
he sat for the entrance exam of the Ghana School of Law and passed and was admitted in the same year as well.
He completed his professional law course in 2018 and was called to the Bar in 2019.
He is currently working with Amua-Sekyi & company, and promises to be one of the finest legal practitioners in Ghana.
