Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s claim that he is committed to the development of sports in his constituency is no fluke.
The lawmaker, who is seeking re-election on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), is set to complete five AstroTurf projects in the constituency to help promote sporting activities.
Already, works on the Abbey’s Park AstroTurf project have been completed and the facility is now open to public use. Works are also progressing on another AstroTurf facility in the Dichemso Electoral Area.
Napo, who was speaking at a public event on Saturday, also announced that two more AstroTurf projects will soon commence at the Atipihene’s Park and the CPC Electoral Area, all in Manhyia South.
The lawmaker, who is also the Minister of Education, however, bemoaned how the fifth AstroTurf project at the Konadu Yiadom School Park has been met by resistance from some people due to politics.
Napo stated that the Konadu Yiadom AstroTurf project will take place regardless of those who are opposing the project.
According to him, aside from beautifying the place, the facility will also provide an ultra-modern sporting facility for the youth in the area.
He disclosed that the Manhyia South Constituency has consistently produced top-notch national football stars, some of whom played for the Black Stars and excelled.
The Manhyia South MP said he will continue to sacrifice and work assiduously to provide modern sporting facilities to promote sports in his constituency.
