President Donald Trump has fired the US Defense of Secretary, Mark Esper.
The President announced the termination of Esper’s appointment in a tweet on Monday evening.
Mr Trump wrote: “I am pleased to announce that Christopher C. Miller, the highly respected Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (unanimously confirmed by the Senate), will be Acting Secretary of Defense, effective immediately..”
“…Chris will do a GREAT job! Mark Esper has been terminated. I would like to thank him for his service,” he wrote.
It comes as US faces tough times with its elections.
President Trump has refused to accept defeat and US media report monitored by DGN Online suggest that the US will have a difficult transition.
Trump’s ally, Vladimir Putin has refused to congratulate Joe Biden, the President-elect.
China has also refused to congratulate Joe Biden, saying in a statement that the outcome of the US election remains a subject of dispute.
