UK-based Ghanaian filmmaker, Eunice Asiedu, says she had tested positive for COVID-19 but she was fortunate to recover from it.
In an interview with NEWS-ONE on Wednesday about her survival story, the actress cum producer described her experience as very painful.
According to her, she wouldn’t wish for anyone to be careless to contract the virus. She has therefore implored Ghanaians to take care of themselves and follow safety protocols to stem the spread of the virus.
“It was scary when I tested positive but God saw my family and me through the difficult times. It’s real! Stay safe,” she stated.
Explaining how she got infected, Eunice indicated that she was a key worker and that made it impossible for her to stay away from people.
“I started experiencing general body weakness. Followed by sore throat, a cold and high temperature. I could barely leave my bed. What made it sad was I lived at home with a high risk patient, my mum. I had so much fear I couldn’t disclose my diagnosis to her. I could see her health was deteriorating but I just had to keep praying and treat her with traditional medicines. In this part of our world, it is highly impossible to go into the hospital these days and come back whole. I had seen so many people go in and died. My only hope was God. This was weeks to my birthday. I was scared and worried,” she said.
“As a frontline worker on the war front, I had seen it all. But gradually with much care and treatment, God saw us through the tough days. I came out negative a week to my birthday. It’s a terrible experience. I had no underlining health conditions but COVID nailed me. We all have to stay safe,” she added.
Currently, Ghana has been witnessing what seems to be the second wave of COVID-19 surge. President Akufo-Addo, in his last address to the nation on COVID-19, warned he would be re-imposing restriction on movement should the surge in active COVID-19 cases persist.
