I.C. Quaye
Ghana Hajj Board has written to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia, informing it of its readiness to participate in this year’s Hajj as the country has secured its first consignment of vaccines for its citizens against the coronavirus.
The Chairman of the Hajj Board, Sheikh I.C. Quaye, who disclosed this, expressed delight about the availability of vaccines now in the country.
“We have the vaccines and they also have got the vaccines in Saudi Arabia so we pray to Allah to open the way for us,” he said.
The board, he went on, is awaiting a favourable response from the Saudi Ministry for Hajj Affairs. Ghana did not partake in the Hajj last year as did many countries as a result of COVID-19.
Speaking at a prayer session he organised for the Hajj at the Hajj Village, Sheikh I.C. Quaye said the acquisition of vaccines in the country was a mark of good leadership exhibited by President Akufo-Addo.
The acquisition, he said, would make it possible for Ghana to partake in the Hajj.
“We pray to Allah to bless the vaccines so that whoever takes them will not be infected and we pray for more and more and more of the vaccines,” he said.
He also prayed that Allah grants the leadership of the country the sound mind, good conscience, knowledge and wisdom to govern the country.
He further called for unity and cooperation among the staff of the Hajj Board so that the recognition Ghana has earned in managing the annual pilgrimage would be sustained.
“Let us be our brother’s keeper. Oh, Allah, fill our heart with the best intention and the best love so that we succeed,” he added.
