The newly appointed Acting President of the Ga Traditional Council has called for unity within the traditional area.
The Acting President, Nii Adote Otintor II, who is the Sempe Mantse, took exception to disputes which he said do not inure to the interest of the people.
For development to take place, he said peace must prevail. The Acting President was speaking to the DAILY GUIDE when he made the call.
“The importance of development cannot be overlooked and for this to take place there must be peace among the people of Ga and between the Gas and residents from other parts of the country,” he said.
He promised to use his office to foster peace within the traditional area.
The chief also called on parents to invest in their children’s education because as he put it, “the future of the country depends on our human resource.”
With the free SHS now operative, he said, “There is no excuse for parents to deny their children education.”
On the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination, he called on everybody to avail themselves of the opportunity offered by the exercise.
“Ignore all the tales about the vaccination and get vaccinated. That is the only way we can eliminate the deadly virus which has afflicted mankind.”
He promised to be a President for all the traditional segments of Ga.
The Acting President was initiated into his new appointment recently at the Ga Mantse Palace in Accra.
He succeeded the previous acting President Nii Dodoo Nsaki, the Otublohum Mantse who stood down on health grounds and old age.
His appointment was the choice of a committee empanelled for the purpose.
It will be recalled that in the interview he granted soon after his inauguration, he promised to work hard to resolve disputes which had bedeviled the traditional area.
“I am hopeful that by the time we celebrate Homowo, all the disputes would have been resolved. Not all disputes need to go to the court as we can resolve them through alternative dispute resolution mechanisms,” he said.
The council is made up of seven quarters, Ngleshie Alata, Gbese, Abola, Asere, Sempe, Akumanjey and Otublohum.
