Harry Kane
Manchester City and United are both prepared to offer Harry Kane £300,000 per week in basic salary.
The England striker sent shockwaves through boyhood club Tottenham by telling them he wants to leave this summer.
And both Manchester sides have emerged as options with City regarded as favourites for his signature.
The Sun claim that both Premier League heavyweights are prepared to put together a massive contract to persuade the 27-year-old of his next destination.
Kane would be offered £300,000 a week on a five-year deal, which would be an improvement of £70,000 from his Tottenham terms.
Despite the financial impact of the coronavirus crisis on club finances, both Manchester clubs are willing to sanction not only the huge contract, but the outlay it would take for Spurs to let him go.
Kane would cost in the region of £150million and has three years left on his contract so Daniel Levy and Spurs are in a strong negotiating position.
Sergio Aguero is leaving City in the summer after forging legendary status at the Etihad and will leave a gaping hole.
Gabriel Jesus is yet to convince he is the main man so City will be prioritising bringing in a striker they can rely on.
Pep Guardiola refused to comment on the developments on Tuesday night after his side’s defeat by Brighton, saying: “Next question. He is a Tottenham Hotspur player, please.”
While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “I can’t comment on other teams’ players or what has been speculated. I want to show Tottenham the respect they deserve.”
Tottenham stars are understandably concerned by Kane’s desire to leave, with Son Heung-min among those worried about what his exit would mean.
