Micheal Baafi with Kalifa Al Zaabi
Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry and Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, in the Eastern Region Micheal Okyere Baafi has appealed for support from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Embassy in Ghana to help the development of his constituency.
The MP made this appeal when he paid a courtesy call on the UAE Ambassador to Ghana, Kalifa Al Zaabi, to help construct a mosque for the Muslim community in his Constituency and also build Police post to help curb growing insecurity.
Micheal Okyere Baafi said the courtesy call forms part of his efforts to secure international partnerships for the good people of New Juaben South.
According to him, in a discussion with the UAE Ambassador, they discussed three essential things: “I sought his assistance in constructing a new mosque for the constituency’s growing Muslim community, as the old one had become too small to accommodate worshippers.
“Second, as criminal activity has increased in my district, I sought their support to construct a Community Police Post to increase police visibility and aid in crime prevention” Michael Okyere Baafi said.
The MP also said “we discussed the most effective strategy for capitalizing on the tourism potential of the New Juaben constituency, which will serve as a springboard for additional business opportunities. I am confident that today’s visit will establish a beneficial and mutually beneficial relationship”.
The Ambassador in his remarks indicated to do all his best to help develop the progress of Koforidua.
