Tragedy struck last week when eight pupils of the St. Charles Lwanga R/C JHS drowned in a river in the district.
DAILY GUIDE gathered that a headteacher went with a number of pupils to his farm to harvest his rice and whilst returning, the canoes they were using collided and the pupils started drowning.
In the melee, about 15 pupils on board were able to swim to safety and another eight could not come out.
A search team was able to retrieve seven bodies and on November 13, another missing body was retrieved from the river, bringing the total number of confirmed death to eight.
The bodies of the pupils have since been handed over to their families for burial.
