Renowned Ghanaian Beautician and Chief Executive Officer of Roji 1 Hair Saloon, Jemmy Sarkodie, has donated foods and drinks worth thousands of cedis to homeless people in Accra ahead of this year’s Christmas celebration.
Roji 1 Hair Saloon is a living testimony of the biblical verse of 2 Corinthians 9:6-8, which talks about cheerful giving.
As part of her annual philanthropic works in the region, Jemmy Sarkodie also known as Roji 1 donated items such as food, books, school bags, toiletries, groceries, and other learning materials to the less privileged in some part of Accra such as Darkuman, Chief Imam’s residence in Fadama among others.
Speaking to the media, Jemmy Sarkodie said so many homeless people move about without any source of income or idea of where their next meal is going to come from, hence she took the opportunity to support some of them.
“It’s sometimes sad to see how homeless kids especially do wander about on the street of Accra searching for food to eat. This is why the Roji Saloon has taken it upon itself to help the needy with some food and other materials to support their day-to-day life.
“I’m therefore pleading to civil society groups and other non-governmental organisations to come in to support the less privileged in our society,” she stressed.
She further urged Ghanaians, especially couples, to plan well before they have children because most of the kids on the street were homeless due to poverty. Jemmy Sarkodie also pleaded with the public, especially those in the diaspora who are willing to support her initiative, to reach her via her social media platforms.
