Goldstar Air, the wings of Ghana, donated boxing and personal protective equipment to The Street Academy in Accra, a non-profit sports and culture institution, as part of its corporate social responsibility, with the goal of revitalising juvenile boxing.
The Street Academy recognised that a large number of children between the ages of 6 and 15 years lived on the streets and had to do some minimal work for their daily bread, so such deprivation required the academy’s management to focus its efforts on caring for these deprived children.
Executive Chairman and CEO of Goldstar Air, Eric Bannerman, stated that the presentation was intended to supplement The Street Academy’s efforts to ensure that no lives are lost in their daily activities due to the raging COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to educate and train more sports personnel for national teams.
The founder and Director of The Street Academy, Ataa Lartey, thanked Goldstar Air for the timely donation.
He said, “The generous donation will go a long way toward assisting these children. Best wishes for the Goldstar Air Care Foundation’s continued success and generosity, as you have had a significant positive impact on the lives of people in need.”
The indigenous airline will initially be flying to twelve destinations from Accra namely; London, Baltimore Washington International Airport, Dubai, Providence International Airport, Guangzhou, Dakar, Lagos, Monrovia, Abidjan, Freetown, Banjul, Conakry and pending cities, Atlanta-Georgia, Chicago-Illinois, Glasgow-Scotland and Houston-Texas.
